It was around 6:10 CEST when Natus Vincere typed ‘GG’ on the fifth map of the grand final of TI 3 which made The Alliance the champions of the tournament. The swedish team takes home over $1.3 million and a spot in every eSport history book.
The grand final was dominated by Io. Either team let this hero come through the first ban phase and either team who had the chance to grab the game-changing supporter grabbed it.

Dendi XBOCT Funn1k KuroKy On map 1 Na’Vi came up with a weird strategy to counter Alliance‘s Io played by EGM. But their strategy was falling apart in the early game which gave Alliance a fast GG. The next two maps took Na’Vi by having Io in their lineup which gave them a lead in the early game and an advantage that was big enough to secure the maps for them.
Alliance was now one map away from being defeated and secured Io themselves again. Na’Vi had a stable draft but s4 came up with a surprise pick for the mid lane with his Nightstalker. With that the swedish team was able to secure map 4 for them which led the final in the deciding map 5.
This time the swedish powerhouse got the infamous Chaos Knight and Io combination and a solo mid Puck. The ukrainian-european mix team picked Templar Assassin to counter the Puck. Again Na’Vi established an early-mid advantage but Alliance once again punished their 5-man playstyle with AdmiralBulldog‘s split-pushing Nature’s Prophet. After claiming a Roshan kill Na’Vi was going for the middle barracks of Alliance but the Swedes split-pushed with Chaos Knight, Io and Nature’s Prophet. The Puck played by s4 managed to cancel all of Natus Vincere‘s Town Portal Scrolls which led the pushing force of Alliance to get 2 lanes of barracks. From now on Na’Vi was on the backfoot. After pushing again Nature’s Prophet (AdmiralBulldog) was able to get the last Tier 4 tower of the ukrainian-european mix.
Now they had to find a way to defend their base and win the game but s4 ended the map with another 2-man TP cancel with his Dream Coil which gave the chance for the rest of Alliance to push Na’Vi‘s ancient.
